Account Manager

Summary

Responsible for running PR campaigns on time, on budget and on specification and for the day-to-day running of client campaigns, in terms of the client, the press and the team.  Client management is critical to this role.  PR skills are now assumed and the focus is on advancing these skills while developing leadership and people management skills.  Manages account executives and account coordinators at this level.

Client Responsibilities

  • ·         Consults on a range of communications techniques available to you and recommend them as appropriate; shows proficiency in the implementation of these campaigns. 
  • ·         Demonstrates sound knowledge of your clients’ business and the industry in which they operate; you also understand related industries and their impact on your clients’ business.
  •           Demonstrates the ability to forge and exploit strategic press relationships, achieving landmark coverage for your client through strategic and creative work with trade, specialist and broad reach media.
  • ·         Implements smart methodology and delivers strategic and comprehensive PR services placed in the context of clients’ business and the industry in which they operate.
  • ·         Effectively manages core coverage campaigns such as features and review programs.
  • ·         Serves the press to the highest professional standards.
  • ·         Demonstrates the ability to produce high quality written material in a timely manner.
  • ·         Demonstrates proficiency in all areas of writing including plans, opinion pieces, presentations and proposals, all of which reflect a clear understanding of your client’s business and industry.
  • ·         Provides day-to-day management of client campaigns and is regarded as the first point of contact by clients, inspiring their loyalty and trust.
  • ·         Develops and drives strategy, planning and budget setting processes.
  • ·         Ensures all work produced by teams is completed in a timely manner, is branded and produced to the highest possible standard.
  • ·         Proactively seeks opportunities to contribute to client retention/growth and client satisfaction.
  • ·         Proactively identifies potential clients.

People Responsibilities

Motivated and prepared workforce

  • Demonstrates leadership qualities including the ability to motivate, inspire, delegate, empower and develop relationships with team members.
  • Manages direct reports in accordance with PR Worx’s brand values, people and operational principles.
  • Ensures effective skills development programs are in place for your direct reports to enable them to deliver on their objectives.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead and inspire your team, as appropriate.

Finance Responsibilities

Financially strong

  • Contributes to the overall achievement of your business unit’s business plan through completely owning client campaigns as directed by your account coordinator.

Operations Responsibilities

Build the global proposition

  •  Oversees and reviews your team’s timesheets to ensure programs are run on time and on budget.
  • Ensures your teams follow PR Worx reporting protocol

Knowledge, abilities, education:

  • Communications or Journalism degree, or other  5 years related experience.  
  • Ability to manage diverse daily workloads and priorities.  Established media relationships and contacts are a must.
  • In addition you need to have strong written and verbal skills, in-depth media knowledge, and a proven track record of managing work flow of busy accounts.
  • Good media relationships is a plus.
  • Very computer literate.

The successful candidate will be joining a highly energetic, self-driven team and will play a vital role in shaping the strategic communications direction for our domestic and international client base.

Account Executive

Summary

Responsible for driving the implementation of PR campaigns and achieving results for clients as agreed with your account manager. Provides a critical day-to-day interface with the press in relation to their clients PR campaigns. PR skills are most important in this role.

  • Drives the implementation of smart PR campaigns and focuses on achieving results.
  • Serves the press to the highest standards possible.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the press, including titles, contracts, contacts, publishing houses and what their focus is and effectively manages news announcements and feature programs.
  • Builds strong press relationships and gains coverage for your clients.
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of your clients’ industries, in terms of key facts and related industries, and demonstrates proficiency in this knowledge to clients and press.
  • Demonstrates good understanding of all basic PR skills and their place in the PR plan, including press releases, events, round tables, etc.
  • Understands the difference between proactive and reactive PR and creates PR opportunities for your clients.
  • Produces high-quality written PR material in a timely manner.
  • Proficiency is expected in all areas of day-to-day writing including monthly reports, press releases, action documents, briefing documents, case studies and letters.
  • Contributes to your offices’ client retention goals as a member of your office.
  • Understands smart methodology placed in the context of clients’ business and the industry in which they operate.
  • Takes ownership of specific projects and tactics (e.g. events, features, news announcements and review programs).
  • Liaises with clients effectively and inspires their confidence and trust, demonstrating that you understand the markets in which they operate.
  • Takes ownership of specific parts of the campaigns and contributes to future planning.
  • Ensures all work is completed in a timely manner, is branded and produced to the highest possible standard.
  • Participates in cross company activity as agreed with your manager.
  • Contributes to client growth and new business initiatives as a member of your office.

People Responsibilities

  • Understands PR Worx’s brand values, people principles and operating principles.
  • Works with manager to set objectives and takes responsibly/accountability for your development as a PR professional.
  • Shares relevant knowledge and helps support skills development of ACs on your team.

  • Understands the basics of your business unit’s overall business plan and your role in helping to achieve it.

Operations Responsibilities

  • Manages your own time efficiently in relation to campaigns, prioritises tasks and manages the achievement of your performance objectives.
  • Informs manager of workload and liaises effectively with other members of your team. Completes time sheets on a timely basis.

Knowledge, abilities, education:

  • Communications or Journalism degree, or other 3 years related experience.
  • Mining and corporate background a bonus.
  • Ability to multi-task and assist on a variety of highly specialised accounts.
  • Well spoken with strong written skills.
  • Good media relationships is a plus.
  • Very computer literate.
